Senator for Veterans Candidates

Jonathan Villalon
Hey everyone! My name’s Jonathan and I’m excited to be a candidate for the Senator position for Veteran Students.

Being a new student veteran on a college campus, I relied on the resources Saddleback had available to help guide me through this next chapter in life after the military. As I go through my day, I look for ways to be involved with the community and also give that guidance to my fellow Veterans. In the 4 years I served in the Navy I found ways to be a leader among my sailors as I was President of our Junior Enlisted Association along with being the Command Fitness Leader on my ship. I currently serve as the Administrative Coordinator for the Veterans Student Council and an active participant in the Student Veterans Club.

My goal in running for Senator for Veteran Students is to be the voice and represent military-affiliated students on campus to help them strive and achieve their educational goals along with providing that guidance most Vets go through during this transition. I believe I could bring that camaraderie and community that student veterans seek. I hope to keep Saddleback’s reputation with the Vets Program immaculate and expand on the team we currently have.

I am running for the Senator for Veteran Students because I believe I can bring a voice for the Student Veterans due to my experience and time in service. I served for 9 years as a Corpsman in the Navy and also served on several committees such as Diversity and Junior Enlisted Association. I am currently serving as the media manager for Saddleback's Veterans Club and I strive to include and help raise awareness of the benefits for Veteran Students on campus.
My wish is to help Student Veterans who are in the challenging position of transitioning out of the military and learning how to be a student. I served as a laboratory technician during my career and am currently going into my second year of school at Saddleback. I am looking to work in marketing one day and am currently working on a communications and business degree.
I hope to keep Saddleback a great place for Student Veterans and their families and help tackle any issues that come their way.
